New Year's Resolution - How to get more sleep in 2020

New Year’s Resolutions, you have to love them! What do you have on the list this year? Going out more? Going to the gym? Catching more sleep maybe? We don't know about the best events you can attend nor do we promote any gyms, but we can definitely help you set your zzz's in order.

Let’s set up a plan together, so your sleep can improve significantly and you can kickstart your new, better life!

  • Set yourself a goal

  • This is how all starts in your life. If you get your facts straight and understand that wanting to lose weight, be more successful in life, eating better or stressing less are all in a tight connection with your sleep, you will start paying more attention to what you are doing before you get to bed. Our blog is full of tips and tricks on how to sleep better but all you have to do is pick one and turn it into a goal. Maybe it's meditating for 10 minutes or putting your phone away before bed. Just set a tiny goal and stick to it until you reach it.

  • Turn that goal into a plan

  • Yes, you’ve set yourself a goal. Now you have to plan out your life in order to reach your goal. Don’t aim big from the start. Try going to bed 10 to 15 minutes earlier each night for the next few weeks. After that, try to stop staying on the phone at least one hour before sleep, and so on. Make the plan yours and personalize it in order to resemble your personality.

  • Cozy up your bedroom

  • Now, for the fun part! Make sure your surroundings are sleep-friendly. Researches show that a tidy bedroom helps you sleep better and more comfortable. Make sure you have enough fresh air in your bedroom and that the temperature is good enough - too cold or too warm and you'll toss and turn all night. Besides that, be sure that no external light will disturb your sleep at night time and try to silence all the external sounds. How? By using earplugs or, if the light gets in your way, an eye mask. Living in an urban area can sometimes be painful for your sleep, that’s why using those tricks will help you!

  • Avoid snacking

  • Yes, we know, it’s hard for you to skip that bar of chocolate. We feel it too, but the main thing is that you have to let that chocolate go. Or any hard food, for what matters. Your digestive system will start working exactly when you would love to get some sleep. Skip sweets, spicy food and replace coffee and sodas with decaf and pure water!

  • Keep your plan in check

  • This is the most important one. Nothing will work if it’s done inconsistently. Keep everything on tabs, check it consistently (at least once a month) and add new goals to your sleeping improvement plan! Be sure to stick with your plan and you will get the sleep you deserve!

    Good luck!
